“The right mentality is everything. We can teach skills, but we want people who bring grit, accountability, and a drive to be the best.” – Lee Bruderer, Central Texas Division Manager.
We know what it takes to succeed in concrete construction. And our commitment to building in Texas extends beyond jobsites – it goes all the way to the classroom. Our Division Managers offer students a clear vision for building a career at Kent Concrete. “We’re looking for people who are ready to dive in and make an immediate impact. If you’re motivated, eager to learn, and ready to push yourself, we want you on our team,” shares Andy Thigpen, Division Manager.
Kent Concrete leaders walk the walk – they're involved in Texas-based schools and universities, helping students build hands-on experience in commercial concrete. Thigpen serves on the University of North Texas Construction Management Board and Safety Committee. He leads Kent's Dallas multifamily and structural operations, which offer both concrete and underlayment services.
Houston-based Division Manager Adrian Rendón serves on the University of Houston Industry Advisory Board for Construction Management. Austin-based Division Managers Lee Bruderer and Tim Beavers host on-site seminars for construction management students that connect them with Kent subject matter experts in safety, tilt-wall concrete, and structural concrete.
Workforce development is a cornerstone to Kent Concrete’s decades-long success in Texas. We recognize that today’s students want work experience that is tailored to them – with assignments that add specific skills to their arsenal. That’s why we build every internship experience for the individual. It’s not about quantity – it's about a customized experience in project management, estimating and field operations. New this year, our Safety Internship in Dallas gives students a deeper look into risk management and jobsite safety, a critical skill for any career in construction.
Our expansion from Dallas, to Austin, and now to Houston means we offer students incredible opportunities in commercial, multifamily, structural, and mission critical concrete construction. Thigpen and Bruderer said it best: We’re looking for mindset, and we’re willing to teach skills to individuals who want to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
