Interns in Action: Leading from the Front in Austin

This summer in Austin, three interns are learning side by side under the wing of General Superintendent Nacho Sandoval. With Nacho’s steady leadership and high expectations, they’re being challenged to lead, speak up, and take real ownership on the job. And it shows. From early morning pours to customer-facing milestones, this group is earning trust and standing out for all the right reasons.

Gracen Packard has been a standout both on the jobsite and online. He has taken LinkedIn along for the ride, sharing insights from his internship and showing what it looks like to grow in real time. Wyatt Shephard is making an impact in a different way, consistently leading 1,000 cubic yard pours with focus, confidence, and a clear sense of responsibility. Sergio Zuniga brought that same energy to a recent topping out ceremony. When Flynn Construction needed someone to step in and translate, he was called out by name and delivered without missing a beat.

These are the kinds of experiences you can’t get in a classroom. They come from being out in the field, surrounded by professionals who trust you to step up. Nacho’s mentorship, paired with hands-on responsibility, is helping these interns grow in ways that will shape their careers for years to come. They’re learning the work, and learning how to lead it.
