Intern Spotlight: Alejandro Manrriquez & Kevin Mendoza

Here at Kent, no two intern experiences are the same. The hours go by fast and the learning is nonstop, but each journey creates unique memories and new relationships. Alejandro Manrriquez and Kevin Mendoza spent their summers with our Charlotte-based Kent Concrete team and are leaving with experiences tailored to their interests.

Kevin dove right into the action at the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry project. He got hands-on experience setting footings and anchor bolts, and ordering concrete. In the office, he learned how to review submittals, read drawings, and request RFIs. His favorite part? Making connections and working closely with the crews. “I learned that communication and teamwork lead to success, and on-time project delivery.”

Alejandro's summer was filled to the brim with projects. He worked closely with his mentor, Alejandra Ardila, and spent a big chunk of time on the Nissin food project. In the office, Alejandro gained experience with buyouts, submittals, and purchase orders. His favorite moments were spent in the field with the layout engineers, assembling form walls, reading drawings, and setting layout instruments.

Division Managers, mentors, and crews come together to give every intern an experience worth remembering. Interesting in joining the RED Nation? Check out our open positions now.
