Building in the Backyard of Lopez House

In our line of work, a small lot means one thing. We’re going up.

Our Austin structural team is building La Vista de Lopez, a nine-story, 34-unit senior housing tower on an incredibly small site.

The 0.17-acre lot overlooks I-35 and is shared with the 1917 Routon-Alvarez-Lopez House. Our partners at Franklin Construction temporarily relocated the historic home to allow construction access to the site. When returned, a new nine-story tower will stand in its backyard, with the Lopez House serving as a community space for the tower’s residents.

Kent Concrete’s scope includes deep foundation piers; concrete shear walls spanning 10 levels vertically; 25,000 SF of metal topping slabs; and a lower-level garage foundation slab at the tower. Stay tuned as we continue building in the backyard of this 107-year-old home.
